Moody's KMV Names Dr. Stephen M. Schaefer As Senior Research Advisor

SAN FRANCISCO, December 12, 2006 - Moody's KMV, the world's leading provider of quantitative credit risk measurement and management solutions to lenders, investors and corporations, announced today that Dr. Stephen M. Schaefer has joined the company on a part-time basis as a Senior Research Advisor. Dr. Schaefer is also a Professor of Finance at the London Business School, where he has published research on topics ranging from credit market and fixed income theory, to investment management, portfolio selection and market regulation.

Dr. Schaefer's role at Moody's KMV will include giving his perspective to the Moody' s KMV research department on the latest developments and emerging trends in credit risk. He will also work with Senior Management on various strategic initiatives as the firm ensures that it remains on the leading edge of research and development of credit risk management tools.

Prior to his professorship at the London Business School, Dr. Schaefer served as Assistant Professor of Finance at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, with visiting appointments at such renowned institutions as the Universities of California (Berkeley), Chicago, British Columbia, Cape Town and Venice. He is a member of Moody's Academic Advisory and Research Committee and formally a board member of the Securities and Futures Authority. Dr. Schaefer holds a bachelor of arts in Mechanical Sciences from the University of Cambridge and a doctorate in Economics from the University of London.
